  6. Installing ANW.
  7.  
  8. Running SETUP will create an ANW directory containing ANW.EXE, 
  9. your appointments file NOTES.APT, the help file ANW.HLP, and 
  10. various supplementary files.  A program group will be created, and 
  11. a small configuration file ANW.INI will be placed in your Windows 
  12. directory.  You can subsequently make many changes in ANW's 
  13. behavior by modifying ANW.INI as described in the help file.

  15. If you run into problems with SETUP, you can install ANW manually. 
  16. Here's what SETUP is supposed to do: create a directory c:\anw, 
  17. expand and copy the file anw.ex_ to c:\anw\anw.exe, copy 
  18. notes.apt, anw.hlp, and all .txt files to c:\anw, and make a short 
  19. anw.ini file in your windows directory. In addition, it creates a 
  20. program group for most of the above files.

  22. Here's how to do this yourself.  We'll assume that the anw disk is in
  23. drive A.  Open a DOS session.  Enter 
  24. md c:\anw
  25. A:
  26. expand -r anw.ex_ c:\anw
  27. copy *.txt c:\anw
  28. copy anw.hlp c:\anw
  29. copy notes.apt c:\anw
  30.  
  31. Now you can exit DOS (just type EXIT).  Use notepad to create in your
  32. windows directory a file ANW.INI with the following lines:
  33.  
  34. [FILES]
  35. ApptFile=c:\ANW\NOTES.APT
  36. ArchiveFile=c:\ANW\ARCHIVE.APT
  37.  
  38. Finally, add an ANW icon to your favorite group by choosing File, 
  39. New in the program manager, then entering ANW for the description 
  40. and c:\anw\anw.exe for the file name.

  42. If you want to uninstall ANW later, just delete your ANW 
  43. directory, the ANW.INI file in your Windows directory, and the ANW 
  44. program group.

  46. You are licensed to try out the Ample Notice period for a trial 
  47. period of 60 days.  After that, you must register if you want to 
  48. continue to use the software.  The file REGISTER.TXT contains a 
  49. registration form.  If you haven't registered, we'll remind you 
  50. once every two months that this is shareware.

  52. Note: Nothing evil will happen after the 60-day trial period -- 
  53. ANW will continue to function as it did before.  You're just using 
  54. the software without our approval.  Granny's is opposed to 
  55. "cripple-ware" which self-destructs after a trial period.  But we 
  56. do hope you'll register.

  58. Granny's Old-Fashioned Software is a member organization of the 
  59. Association of Shareware Professionals and endorses its high 
  60. standards for Shareware distribution and support.  If you obtained 
  61. Ample Notice from a disk catalog or bulletin board, Granny's does 
  62. not receive a cent from the amount you paid.  We rely on your 
  63. registrations to keep going.

  66. The easiest way to keep up-to-date with ANW revisions is to obtain 
  67. the latest version by FTP from ftp.acs.appstate.edu in directory 
  68. pub/pc/win3/pim.  The name will be something like anw101.zip 
  69. (where 101 is the current version number).  You can also obtain
  70. the latest release from our Web page:

  73. To use new releases, download, unzip and run SETUP.  Your old 
  74. appointments file will be retained.  The downloaded version will 
  75. display "Unregistered" on the title bar, but if you're registered, 
  76. send us email at mh@cs.appstate.edu we'll send you a code to put 
  77. in your ANW.INI file to suppress this behavior.  Also, email us if 
  78. you'd like to be alerted when ANW is revised.

  81. Fonts in ANW

  83. ANW uses three TrueType fonts by default: Arial, Arial Bold, and 
  84. Lucida Bright.  If your system doesn't have these fonts and the 
  85. default fonts are objectionable, please add a [FONTS] section to 
  86. the ANW.INI in your Windows directory with lines such as the 
  87. following:

  107. Shareware does not mean 'public domain'.  Distribution is 
  108. permitted only if the package stays intact; all files should be 
  109. passed on in unmodified form.  Commercial distributors may sell

  111. VENDOR.TXT file.  Restrictions to use by an individual are 
  112. described in LICENSE.TXT.  One of these restrictions is that 
  113. unregistered use of Ample Notice past a trial period of 60 days is 
  114. prohibited.

  134.      For five or more users at a single site the following 
  135. licensing arrangements are available:

  137.   Registration: $30 for the first user, $15/user for the 
  138.   next first four, $10 each additional after that.
